This new light weight spray deck is great fun to use very easy to get on boats and fitting a wide range this deck can cover your needs.

On Monday I got some new kit from Hiko, the Cinch Buoyancy Aid, so you have gone to the shop to buy a new BA and you see the cinch on the shelf, from a visal look its a very nice BA and for the price you think its to good to be true, well read on and find out what I thought of the cinch.

The first time I tried it on at home i was stunned as it seemed like it was not there. The Cinch is a light BA but very effective, it is designed for white water use as well as rescue work. However I decided to put it to the test doing some flat water play boat skills, as I had no white water to hand.

This BA is super light and allows you full movement of your arms, shoulders and waits. It comes with to very handy pockets at the front for the must have items, A added extra is to have a quick release system built into the BA. This is what is needed to do live baiting white water rescues. It also has a very handy knife buckle on the front of one of the pockets giving you nice easy access to that knife when you need it. The only down side is you have a flick knife there is no pocket to store it in.

With a zip up front the Cinch can be put on like a jacket or pulled over the head as it has straps at the side and on the top to tighten the Cinch to your body.

I rate this new Buoyancy aid 9/10

Today I tested out the K1 Extend light in a competition event at Harefield.

I found this cagdeck amazing it fitted to my skin so nice that it could of easily been used as a race vest. The cag is semi dry which is excellent in a competition as you want as little water in the boat as possible. The spraydeck is also very good. On first impressions we thought the marterial used was strange however when i got on the water my fellow paddlers all found that they got out wet,  when I got out I was bone dry.

i highly recommend that you buy this cagdeck from Hiko because it really is worth the money.  In my last review I said that spraydecks weren’t meant to keep you dry, just stop too much water getting into the boat, however this cagdeck made me think that yes they are and they can. Hiko really have made a breakthrough in there cagdecks.

Hiko Elastic review

Today I tried a new product made by Hiko

Its name is k1 or C1 Elastic it comes in long and short sleeve

This is a new cagdeck that is now out on the market

And i must say the cagdeck was a pleasure to wear it was a snug fit to my body which means you still have full manoeuvrability. it also has neoprene seals that keep out most of the water, however when i rolled a couple of times i found that a little water got in the boat however i think this is mainly down to the deck Rather then the cag. however a cagdeck is not meant to keep you dry it is meant to keep as much water out the boat as it can

The deck part was good i normaly find with slalom decks that if you roll it pops off when u right yourself however this deck did not, so very good in a competitive side of things. the deck also feels strong and of a high quality.

However i feel on the presentation side of  things it would look better if some of the seam taping was on the inside and not visible to the eye, however this is the case on most slalom decks so theres not much you can do.

Over all I give this cagdeck a rating of

7/10
