Campbell Walsh – Interesting Facts

He first paddled on Airthery Loch at Stirling University aged eight.

He joined CR. Cats Canoe Club when he was 11 years old.

He has a 1st Class Honors degree in Mathematical Physics from the University of Nottingham. He has a post-graduate diploma in IT.

Campbell’s sister Kimberley is a former GB Canoe Slalom team member and now works for the British Canoe Union.

He currently lives less than a mile from the 2012 Olympic Canoe Slalom venue, Lee Valley White Water Centre.

Campbell regularly talks at schools and other events about the lessons he has learnt in sport and his experiences as a successful Olympic athlete.

Canoe Slalom Selection for 2012 Olympics

Three days of racing will be held at the state of the art Olympic Canoe Slalom venue at Lee Valley White Water Centre in Hertfordshire Friday April 13 – Sunday 15 April 2012.

With only one boat per class able to qualify for London 2012, there will be some hard fought racing and nail biting action, resulting in GB Canoeing’s nominations for Team GB.

For reference use only, to attend event you will need to have a valid Olympic event ticket. Competition kicks off at the Lee Valley White Water Centre on July 29, 2012 and the competition will end on August 1, 2012 make sure you watch it on TV the course is a amazing course and you might even find some of the best slalom paddlers in the world take a unexpected swim.

Canoe Slalom selection policy 2012

The BCU Canoe Slalom International Panel have published final Canoe Slalom 2012 selection policy which can be found here. This covers all aspects of Canoe Slalom GB team selection in 2012. The International Panel would like to thank everyone who provided feedback on the proposed 2012 selection policy during the recent consultation process. Every piece of feedback that was received has been read and considered by the panel and many of the comments are reflected in changes to the final policy. The consultation process is a valuable part of formulating the policy and the final policy benefits from this process. GB Juniors Win Double Gold In Slovakia

two GB Slalom juniors have won two gold medals in Slovakia.

Ryan Westley and Bethan Latham two of teams GBs most talented juniors opened the international season of with a bang bringing home two medals, one being Ryans in the c1 mens and the other Bethan K1 womens. This is a great start to the season and hopefully a sign of things to come for Team GB with the 2012 London Olympics next year Team GB canoe slalom team will step up to the plate and show of at the brand new Lee Valley White Water Centre that has been recently opened to the public.

2012 Olympic Games Maker

On Sunday 22nd may I had my interview to become a games maker, I was interviews to be part of the canoe team which is for both the Canoe Slalom and Flat Water Racing at the interview we was asked which area we would be best suited and what we would ideally like to do. Before you go through to have your interview there is host which come round looking for people and asking about there skills and what they can bring to the event. This is a good time to treat it like a interview tell them all your qualifications the more you tell the more it may sink in well that how I feel anyway.

The interview is not that bad it is very much read from a book to you (the interviewer is also a volunteer) just bare that in mind if you feel nerves . You don’t find out until late 2011 around October time onwards whether you ave what it take to become a games maker.

Please feel free to comment on this post if you have any worrys or would like to know a little more before your date of interview, and for those that have already had there interview leave comments with advice for others.

Paddling the legacy loop at Lee Valley White Water Centre

on Tuesday 10 may i was lucky enough to paddle the legacy loop at the Lee Valley White Water Centre, the course was great fun and I managed to film myself going down the course, The video below shows the course and some of its waves and features, I am sorry the quality is not brilliant i will try and get a better one next time i visit the centre.
