Hey there

Worrying developments over the last few days. Following what was initially an anonymous contact though my feedback form which lead to a couple of exchanges of emails and a brief meeting this morning, I was informed of some problems at the new Olympic white water site.

I cant go into details just yet as I need them to come back to me with further information first.

I would love to give you more details but I am stuck between a rock and a hard place until I hear more.

Water flows for the first time

This week testing has started at the Lee Valley White Water Centre The ODA is puting the course though its paces to make shore that it offers a challanging but cappable course that can last for many years to come. This has been a well looked forward event for many people and with sites set on paddling the course before the olympics everyone is very keen to see what the course looks like now. This attraction is going to change the uk slalom in so many ways. There is going to be lots of new people to the sport and a big tourist attraction for those that are really into the sport.

Hymcops upcoming competitions this week

These are the competitions there we will be taking part in the next week or so.
The next race of the Essex Sprint Series takes place at Chelmsford on Saturday 1st May 2010

There is a Div 3 / 4 Slalom event on the River Loddon at Readng on the 2nd / 3rd May 2010, we will not be attending this event as a club but you may borrow equipment and go to this event.

Tuesday evening is the 2nd round of the Harefield Summer Series of Marathon style races which HYM COPS are currently leading (info attached).

Cardiff White Water Canoe Centre

The new white water centre in Cardiff has been open for testing and local canoe clubs were invited to test the course before it openned to the public!

This course gives a real in site to what the new Broxbourne course will look like.

Broxbourne white water canoe centre on course to open spring 2011

Broxbourne white water canoe centre is on course to be open for public use in spring of 2011. The ground works are well under way and the foundations of the building have been completed. BWWCC will be the only brand new olympic venue to be open to the public before the olympic games in 2012. They have worked to make it not only the most depanding course in the world but the best training base for white water aswell.

Theres a new information site at YHA Lee Valley which is around 20 minite walk away from the site. this is a drop in centre and has loads of information about the new site.

New Watersports centre open in Waltham Abbey

Great news for all us watersports lovers. Brookbank Canoes and Kayaks has just opened a store up meters away from the site of the new white water canoe centre. this will bring many more people to the sport we love as they wont have to traval miles to find the right gear.

Cheshunt to raise Olympic flag

A bit tired tonight following the sea kayak trip, but plan to blog a bit tomorrow about the Broxbourne White Water Canoe Centre, with some photos that I have obtained from the London 2012 press office. Also some information on Broxbourne celebrations of the Olympics closing ceremony, in recognition of the Broxbourne White Water Canoe Centre being the white water slalom venue for the London 2012 Olympic games.
